"Garth House sits in a charming location within walled grounds in the centre of this attractive rural village in the heart of the Usk Valley at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. It has private gated access to the historic Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal which now provides leisure and tourism facilities as well as forming part of the Taff Trail. The house probably traces its origins back to the building of the canal, the owners in the 19th century making the most of the waterway for the transport of merchandise and later establishing a shop on the premises. The extensive loft provided storage space and the canalside shed, stabling for horses. Today it offers character residential accommodation including two reception rooms and a conservatory, three bedrooms, family bathroom and separate shower. In 2009 the house was rewired and a new oil fired central heating boiler was installed. All areas of the private walled garden are well-maintained giving a colourful display throughout the year with shrubs and herbaceous borders. There is a vegetable garden to the rear of the house. The property offers direct gated access onto the canal tow path from which one can walk for miles through the beautiful Breconshire countryside.
