"On a generous corner plot, a well-presented family home in a quiet location with lovely gardens. With light and spacious accommodation, 6 Lowes Close is a very comfortable property sitting in beautifully landscaped gardens. The house has high ceilings, well-proportioned principal rooms and a touch of Arts & Crafts with Oak beams and doors. EPC Rating D.
ACCOMMODATION
A large gravel drive sweeps up to the front of the house and the front door leads into a generous reception hall with slate floor, coats cupboard and a galleried landing. The large drawing room has a triple aspect with a magnificent brick inglenook fireplace, Oak beams and supports. The dining room has an unusual bay window, an open fire with brick fireplace, and French windows to the terrace. There is a small study with window overlooking the garden. The kitchen/breakfast room is a wonderful space, recently extended, with a seating area overlooking the terrace and garden. There is a wall of bi-folding doors and feature windows giving views over the garden and four skylights flood the room with light. The kitchen is by Anthony Mullan with Kashmir White granite worktops and there is a superb range of wall and floor units with integrated appliances including a microwave, double oven and dishwasher. The master bedroom has a fine range of built-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. There are four further double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom and separate cloakroom.
LOCAL INFORMATION
Just a level walk from Shiplake Station, Lowes Close is a small cul-de-sac of just half a dozen houses. Number 6 is right at the end with no passing traffic and benefiting from a large corner plot. The Thameside village of Shiplake has a range of local amenities including a village shop with a post office, butcher and The Baskerville Arms pub. Shiplake railway station is in the heart of the village, giving mainline access via Twyford (8 mins) or Reading (18 mins) with a fast service to London, Paddington (from 29 mins) with Crossrail allowing direct access to the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow from 2019. The historic riverside town of Henley-on-Thames (2 miles) has superb facilities including a Waitrose, individual caf?s and restaurants, a fine variety of shops and public houses and is home to the world famous Regatta.The area is well served for schools, including Shiplake Primary, Shiplake College, Reading Blue Coat, The Abbey School for Girls and Queen Anne's in Caversham. The nearby countryside offers miles of extensive walking and riding with the Thames Path close by.
OUTSIDE SPACE
The gardens of 6 Lowes Close are a delight and are predominantly South and West facing. Accessed from the kitchen/breakfast room and dining room is an Indian stone terrace, perfect for entertaining. There is a loggia and steps lead down to the mainly lawned garden, edged with flower borders packed with perennials and bushes. There is a lovely Clematis covered arch and a central flower bed filled with flowers and low shrubs. To one side is a useful open bay wood shed and bike store with a gate to the front. To the eastern boundary is a further area of lawn and mature trees including Silver Birch, Willow and Ash. The whole garden is surrounded by high hedges and shrubs providing privacy and seclusion. The double garage has a high pitched roof which could be converted, subject to the usual consents.
