"Built around 1860 this village cottage retains much charm and character. The property has been extended and updated by its current owners to provide warm and cosy living accommodation with all the mod cons. There are numerous period features to include original floor boarding, wooden latch doors, exposed brick fireplace and bespoke conservatory. Off the entrance hall there is a ground floor bedroom/reception room with an ironwork fireplace and shelving/storage to one recess. The cosy living room room features an exposed brick fireplace housing a log burner and open stairs to the first floor. The kitchen has an array of wall and base units offering excellent storage space. There is a wall mounted boiler and ceramic floor tiling. The freestanding appliances include an under counter fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and electric oven/hob. A glazed door opens into a wonderful bespoke conservatory providing a triple aspect, characterful and versatile living space. Off the conservatory, a former outhouse has been converted into a luxury shower room with ceramic floor tiling and down lighting. There is a large walk in cubicle with rainfall shower, pedestal wash hand basin and WC. Both the conservatory and the downstairs shower room have underfloor heating. To the first floor, off the landing, there is access to a boarded loft space with lighting connected. There are two good sized bedrooms. The main bedroom has a range of built in wardrobes and bedroom two has a stunning iron fireplace. Location
High Halden is a village located on the A28 road between Ashford and Tenterden. The village has a large hall that can be booked out for events, meetings and clubs and there is now a very well stocked local super market. The local Chequers pub is currently open again and is called The Chequers on the Green. This has become a very busy and popular pub restaurant since it re-opened with good quality food and local Red Top Dairy beer served. It was said that fifty tons of oak from some distance away was used to build the unusual tower and spire of the 10th -14th century Church in 1470-1490. The Chequers Inn, circa 1620, is known to have been used by smugglers and the various gangs such as the ?Hawkhurst? and ?Cranbrook? gangs that were active in the mid-18th century. The parish is recorded in the Domesday Book and parts of a Norman manor can be seen at Tiffenden Farm. High Halden School is an attractive Victorian building with modern additions. In 2008 extensive building works, which included 2 new classrooms and school hall, were completed. The school is situated in attractive grounds, which consists of two playground areas; a foundation stage outdoor area and a large playground at the rear. There is a large playing field and extensive gardens, which include a wild life area, which is continually being developed and a millennium garden. Little Acorns Nursery at High Halden is a registered charity run by a committee of parents and friends. The nursery is located on land adjacent to High Halden C of E School where they have their own mobile buildings adapted to accommodate the needs of the nursery."
