"Red House Farm is a rare gem of a property, beautifully tucked away amidst woodland and farmland. This Tudor property, believed to have been built in 1528, was lovingly and painstakingly restored by the current owners in 2006 so that it is wonderfully evocative of its heritage whilst still offering all the comforts one could hope for in a modern property. There is evidence there was once a Roman property on the site, but still visible today are fascinating and varied glimpses of its history since being constructed as a vernacular single-pile, box-frame, axial Elizabethan farmstead.

The moment one enters this enchanting property, one is immersed in the past with beautifully carved oak detailing everywhere, and delightful nooks and crannies to explore wherever one looks. The centerpiece of the house is the wonderful sitting room, a welcoming yet spacious room with a beautiful inglenook fireplace and bread oven and polished beams in abundance. Other reception rooms radiate from this, including a splendid parlour and music room where the date 1528 can be seen. Along with a charming library and a cosy snug where a secondary staircase leads up to one end of the first floor. A garden room stretches across the back of the house and gives access to the double-room kitchen and onwards to the utility room and cloakroom located near the entrance hall.

On the first floor is a gorgeous master bedchamber with an en-suite bathroom and excellent ceiling heights and there are three further similarly charming bedchambers as another bathroom, all refurbished with exemplary quality and taste.

Secondary accommodation is beautifully catered for in the detached 1811 Georgian barn which was again refurbished in 2006. This self-contained barn offers the highest quality in each detail throughout its reception room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

Outside.

The 2.5 acre grounds are a real treat, echoing the lavish care and attention bestowed on the house. A haven for wildlife, the various areas flow seamlessly from one to another. There is a small lake with an island, a brook trickling through, a meadow area, flower gardens and beautiful and ancient trees and shrubs, all interspersed by paths and walkways, with a perimeter cycling track created for those who wish to keep fit while surveying this magical garden. Other features include a medieval folly, a playbarn, a playhouse, gazebo, treehouse and double garage. The house is approached via a 150 yard drive off the forest lane and there is ample parking throughout.
