The surrounding area is one of villages and countryside. The fine old market town of Saffron Walden provides many cultural and social, educational and sporting facilities and is an excellent shopping centre. Audley End main line station provides a fast and frequent rail link to Londons Liverpool Street. The M11 motorway access points are at Stump Cross to the north and Bishops Stortford to the south.
