The Property
Set in one of the oldest parts of the town, this charming cottage has been extended over the years and still retains many features such as flagstone flooring, timber-exposed ceiling beams, open fireplaces, coupled with modern gas-fired central heating and double glazing. We understand the original property dates back to the mid-1800s. Front door leads through to reception hall and ground floor shower room with storage space. Sitting/dining room is of a double aspect with front and rear aspect windows, parquet flooring, 2 open fireplaces constructed with Swanage brick, both with gas points, and under stairs storage cupboard. The kitchen, which we believe to be the original stable, has base units to 3 sides of the room and houses wall-mounted gas boiler servicing hot water. Supports both gas or electric cooker. The room is finished with beautiful flagstone flooring. To the rear of the living area is a small utility room, being the former and original kitchen, with personal door providing access to the rear garden. The first floor enjoys double bedroom with wooden floor and original fireplace. Family bathroom, with 3-piece suite comprising corner enclosed bath, low flush WC and pedestal wash hand basin with an original fireplace, and feature a pair of frosted French doors opening inwards which gives access to a cast iron balcony. Stairs ascend to the top floor with window enjoying distant commanding views towards the Purbeck Hills. There is a double bedroom with vaulted ceiling, roof-line window and side window looking out to the Purbeck Hills. A third bedroom has vaulted ceiling and roof-line window. In addition there is a walk-in store room which we understand to have historically been a cloakroom.
Outside, there is a paved patio area proceeding from the rear, with steps descending into the rear garden, which is partly laid to patio area. There is a generous lawned area to the side of the property with double opening timber gates giving access to hard standing for parking from the road.
