"Where it is Norah?s Cottage is in the village of East Hagbourne; 2 miles from Didcot, 8 miles from Abingdon and 16.4 miles from Oxford. Both Didcot and Abingdon have a good range of supermarkets and a variety of owner-managed shops which make a nice change from the large chain stores. If you really must have your M & S fix, the store in Oxford City Centre is one of the largest and well worth a visit. Millets Farm, near Abingdon, offers local grown produce, pick-your-own, a garden centre, a children?s play area, a farm zoo, restaurant and in the summer months a themed maize maze which attracts visitors from far and wide. East Hagbourne is a picturesque village with a thriving community. People chose to live here for the relatively quiet and friendly environment. If you?re looking to get involved within the village there?s plenty to do. Choose from the Book Club, the Barn Dance Club, Tennis Club or Hagbourne Environment Group. Maybe you have a special interest and you could start your own club, what better way to meet people. For those with children you don?t need to use the car for daily activities. East Hagbourne has a Babies & Toddlers group, a Pre-school and a progressive Primary school which has its own wind turbine and solar panels. Perfectly situated for commuters you can travel into London with ease ? trains from Didcot mainline station get you into London, Paddington in under an hour. Why we love it With a true passion for history, this striking cottage has been lovingly reinstated to its original glory ? the wet room and bathroom are very 2008 the only thing the shower doesn?t do is dry you. Using only traditional methods and resources this house has a healthy pulse?come and feel it for yourself. What it?s got Worthy of awards, this cottage has been restored to its former glory with oodles of love and care. Attention to era and detail throughout, is second to none. Traditional methods have been used throughout, including the walls, which have been restored using wattle and daub. A Grade II listed, thatched cottage built in the 1600?s, this cottage has 3 bedrooms and exposed, natural beams throughout. Originally cows were kept in what is now the dining room, which allowed the heat from these animals to warm the upstairs room -You?ll be pleased to hear that the property now has gas central heating. The dining room is the only room where you might need to watch your head. Before you enjoy good company and delicious home-cooked food from the Aga (a must surely?), you should take a moment to marvel at the wall painting copied from an original timber framed building in Sussex. Quite stunning - As is the downstairs bathroom complete with reclaimed cistern. The kitchen, keeping true to the past, has all free-standing furniture and room to enjoy breakfast or informal suppers. The living room has the obligatory Inglenook fireplace and has just the cosiest feel ? trust us, once inside Norah?s Cottage you?ll never want to leave. All 3 bedrooms are doubles; one even has its own staircase leading from the kitchen. All bedrooms have their own special features; the master even has a wet room, who?d have thought! And there?s more?.an original barn attached to the cottage is a blank canvas just waiting for you to make your mark. How get there From Oxford take the A34 south in the direction of Newbury. After passing Abingdon, take the Didcot exit and then the fourth exit off the roundabout following and follow the signs for Harwell. From Harwell take the T-junction left onto A417 (signposted Reading), then turn left towards East and West Hagbourne and then right into Main Street, West Hagbourne. Bear left into Brook Lane and then right into Main Road. Norah?s Cottage can be found opposite the primary school."
