Hesketh Crescent is a magnificent Grade II* listed building steeped in history. Constructed between 1846 and 1848 by the Harvey brothers, this iconic landmark was originally named Meadfoot Crescent. In 1849, it was renamed in honour of the birth of Sir Lawrence and Maria Hesketh s first child. The crescent has played host to many notable figures throughout history. Charles Darwin, the renowned naturalist, stayed here in 1861, just a few years after publishing The Origin of Species. Agatha Christie, the world famous mystery writer, also had ties to the crescent, as her childhood friends, the Lucy family, resided here. Additionally, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the brilliant engineer behind the Great Western Railway, was a frequent visitor to the crescent.
