"The Richard's Endowed School for Boys was originally built in 1732 and later refurbished in the mid 19th century by John Richard, a wealthy London merchant. ?1200 was left from his estate in order for the construction of the school to " teach boys to read, write and draw up accounts". In more recent years the building has served as a hall for the local branch of the Royal British Legion, which around 8 years ago was then converted to form 2 homes.
