Situation and Description Enjoying an idyllic location beside the historic Ferry Boat Inn, 'Greenway View' is accessed from a level pathway that runs behind this lovely riverside hostelry which has for generations been popular with both local residents and the boating fraternity alike. The accommodation in this deceptively spacious property is arranged on two floors with four windows on each floor (see main photograph on this brochure) looking out over the quay and across Dittisham Pool with its many moorings. Beneath the property is a boatman's store which is in separate ownership and also looks out onto the adjoining quay. The cottage has been in the same family for over fifty years and allthough it would now benefit from some further modernisation and improvement it has had a bespoke fitted kitchen installed by a local craftsman and still retains much original charm and character with old panel doors, heavily beamed ceilings and some panelled walls.
. In addition to open fires heating is from night storage heaters which makes it ideal for a lock up and leave.
. The riverside village of Dittisham in the beautiful South Hams is well known for its mild climate enabling both fruit and flowers to be grown in abundance with numerous varieties of plums, in past generations, being exported particularly sought after. The village has a vibrant community of residents who participate in numerous activities both on and off the water. Local clubs include the popular drama group and an active sailing club which provides great entertainment for both holiday makers and local residents alike. The village also has a pedestrian ferry which is summoned by a bell and crosses the river at its narrowest point to Greenway Quay on the other side where the Agatha Christie Estate is located together with some excellent walks through beautiful countryside and woodland. In addition to the Ferry Boat Inn there is also the Red Lion Inn at the top of the village with both pubs having a reputation for good food and ale.
. There is also a post office and general store together with the very popular Anchor Stone cafn++. The port town of Dartmouth with its many shops is some four miles down river at the mouth of the estuary.
