"The Chestnuts is believed to date back to the 17th century with later additions and originally formed three cottages. The original construction is a timber frame faced in Cambridge mellow brick to the front elevations and rendered to the rear under a tiled roof. The property was extensively renovated in 1997 retaining a number of period features and is Grade II Listed. In addition there is a detached studio/annexe now converted into 2 bedrooms. There are 3 principle reception rooms; a drawing room with open fireplace, a delightful sitting room and an imposing dining room with parquet flooring. The kitchen/breakfast room has a large bay window overlooking the rear garden and is fitted with a comprehensive range of base and wall cabinets and brick chimney recess with inset gas fired Aga. The first floor accommodation offers a delightful master bedroom, spacious en suite bathroom with roll-top bath, 3 further bedrooms, a family shower room and large loft/office area.
Outside, the gravel driveway leads through to an extensive parking area for several vehicles. The superbly landscaped gardens have terracing, gravel pathways, ornamental pond with waterfall feature, well stocked flower beds, mature trees and shrubs. The detached annexe/studio has now been converted into two bedrooms with en suite facilities and is now registered with the Tourist Board as a Bed & Breakfast facility.Directions

From Saffron Walden, proceed north of the B184, take the first turning left signposted Littlebury. Upon reaching the B1383 in Littlebury, turn right following signs to Great Chesterford. At Great Chesterford bear left following signs to Ickleton. Continue through into the village bearing left into Abbey Street and the property will be found on the right hand side."
