SUMMARY
A delightful period cottage steeped in local history offering the perfect blend of traditional charm and contemporary style.

DESCRIPTION
This intriguing Grade II Listed cottage dates in origin from the 18th Century and was greatly altered during the 19th Century, when the estate was acquired by Baron Lionel the Rothschild. Of particular note are the oval plaster panels incised with figurative compositions representing the Four Seasons, together with Rothschild coat of arms on the gable end. Local records show that in 1881 it was in fact a beer house and in 1901 it was the Red Lion off licence. The property ceased to be the local post office as late as 1984.

Accommodation
The front door opens into a reception hall, off which lies the study which was used as the former post office. The huge 'L' shaped living room enjoys a triple aspect and casement doors leading out to the garden. A short flight of steps leads down to a small cellar. There is a generous and well appointed ground floor cloaks/shower room with a large shower stall. The large sitting room is a really comfortable room with a large bow window overlooking the garden. There is a wonderful open fireplace with exposed brickwork and a flagstone hearth. The kitchen/diner is a stunning room fitted with a bespoke range of units incorporating part hardwood and part granite work surfaces. There is a Rangemaster cooker in contrasting black and striking polished natural wood flooring. The dining area opens into a lovely conservatory style area with casement doors opening onto the garden.
On the first floor there is a large generous landing with access to all five of the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a pretty original exposed brick fireplace and a sumptuous en suite bathroom. The remaining bedrooms are all particularly well proportioned, with four doubles and a large single. The family bathroom is also beautifully appointed and has stripped and polished floorboards.

Outside
There is a double garage with parking for two cars in front. The rear garden enjoys a sunny south westerly aspect with a large paved terrace adjacent to the house. Steps lead up to an area of
lawn with well stocked flower beds which are a profusion of colour in the spring and summer.

Location
The architecture of this pretty village on the outskirts of Wendover is heavily influenced by the Rothschild family, who originally built and occupied the stunning Halton House, which is now the Officers Mess for RAF Halton. The village of Wendover, with its eclectic mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, also offers a Library, Dentist, Health Centre and Chemist. For the sport minded there are Squash and Bowls Clubs and Tennis clubs in both villages. Halton also boasts a modern Health & Fitness centre. Nearby are some lovely rural walks, bridle paths and cycle routes, Coombe Hill, Wendover Woods and the disused arm of the Grand Union Canal. Wendover station offers a frequent service to Marylebone (within 50 minutes) on the award winning Chiltern line. The A41(M) can be found between Aston Clinton and Tring, offering a swift connection to the M25. Alternatively the M40 is at High Wycombe.
