"These days, I get quite excited about marketing old, character properties (such is the sad state of my social life) and so in that respect, this property 'rocks my boat' too! Apparently its claim to fame (locally, anyway) is the fact that the Joyce family once lived here, opposite their iconic Whitchurch landmark building 'Joyce Turret Clock Manufacturers'. Not only did they know how to make clocks in those days, they knew how to build houses too! This really is a substantial property and apart from the removal of a couple of the downstairs fireplaces (shame), much of the original house is still intact, so it feels like a bit of a time warp, which is by no means a bad thing. Downstairs there are three separate reception rooms, plus a good sized kitchen/breakfast room, a utility area and downstairs loo. The accommodation is spread over three floors, including the spacious attic/fifth bedroom on the second floor. It has been extended, although it is highly likely that you will want to refit the kitchen and spacious bathroom, however, this will at least allow you to put your own mark on what is otherwise a very nice property. Original features include patterned tiled floors to the entrance hall and porch, stained glass windows and many rooms have sash windows (I can't guarantee that they all work). There are open cast iron fireplaces and the old fashioned gas lamp on the second floor landing has mercifully been converted into electric. Outside, there are neatly tended gardens to both front and rear, including a sheltered walled side courtyard. Parking and a concrete sectional garage is accessed to the rear of the house via a service road. Location wise, you can't really go wrong. Walking into town is a doddle for most people and if you need to travel further afield there is, as the street name suggests, a railway station nearby and those travelling by car will appreciate swift access to the bypass for travel throughout a wide geographical area. Infant and junior schools are within a stone's throw from here, so you see, it really is very well placed indeed. It all sounds far too good to be true??. Come and have a look for yourselves and you too may just get a little bit excited too!!
