" An attractive, five bedroom, period, village home in about one third of an acre and enjoying a good degree of privacy.
Originally the station master's house to the now disused Basingstoke to Alton railway and subsequently extended to a high standard to provide a comfortable and characterful family home.
The accommodation has been well designed for modern family living allowing
flexibility for entertaining as well as day to day life. There are a number of appealing features which include a 24' kitchen/breakfast room with Aga, granite work surfaces and under floor heating, a 26' drawing room and fireplaces. On the first floor are two bathrooms (one ensuite) and a shower room

(fittings include attractive use of stone and under floor heating). If desired there is also planning to enlarge the family room and add a wide walk-in bay window to the drawing room.
Outside, the driveway is approached via a five bar gate and the pleasant gardens are mainly to two sides of the house (facing southerly and westerly). There is also a good degree of privacy and a balance of interest; such as a knot garden of clipped box, kitchen garden, stocked beds and borders which combine with an expanse of level lawn. There is a large shed with potential as home office (subject to relevant consents). A spinney (which the
current owners lease from The Herriard Estate) flanks the garden and the adjoining field.
Herriard is a rural village between Basingstoke and Alton (5 and 7 miles), the M3 (junction 6) motorway also runs just to the South of Basingstoke. At the village centre facilities include a pavilion (which also houses 'Little
Crickets' nursery school), a children's adventure play area, tennis courts, cricket pitch, church, pub and village hall. The A339 provides links to both towns and there is a bus stop close to hand which comes in useful for teenagers.
Basingstoke provides a wide range of shopping and recreational facilities as well as Festival Place, two multiplex cinemas, two sports centres, an ice rink and a main line station to London (Waterloo from 46 minutes)
Schooling is well provided for in both state and
private sectors; including Bentworth, Preston Candover for primary, Amery Hill (Alton), Robert Mays (Odiham), Perrins (Alresford) for secondary, and sixth form colleges in Alton and Basingstoke. Independent schools nearby include Alton Convent, Lord Wandsworth College, Cheam and Daneshill (served by school bus within 50 metres).
