Hersden lies 3-4 miles north east of Canterbury and has a local shop. The village of Sturry, just a mile away, is well served by local shops, doctors' surgery, primary school, library, post office, public houses, a regular bus service and a mainline station with links to Canterbury, Ashford and London.
