Relaxing on the galleried landing, the owner adores the way the
sunlight cascades through the open plan hub of her gorgeous Grade
II Listed barn, its agricultural heritage laid bare in its exposed
beams. I love sitting up on there on a Saturday or Sunday morning,
reading and drinking coffee, she said. The couple were enchanted
from the moment they saw the five bedroom home. There's a very
contemporary feel inside with the wooden flooring and modern
wood-burner. It was one of those houses we just walked into and
didn't want to change a thing, other than give it a fresh lick of
paint, she added. We have lived here for four and half fantastic
years. The moment I walked through the door and saw the open plan
reception, dining room and kitchen, I knew it would be great for
us. ACCOMMODATION On entry to Murrays Barn you are welcomed
by the large entrance doors which open to the main accommodation
which is sleek minimalistic and open plan to the ground floor. The
part original and modern beamed walls are complemented by the
quality heated wood flooring. The stylish ground floor offers three
types of living accommodation. The kitchen area which is central to
this room offers two double glazed windows which look over the rear
garden, sunken sink drainer unit with hot and cold mixer taps,
family size range master oven with extractor over and splash
protector to the rear. The wall and base units are of high finish
with granite effect worktops and centre island breakfast bar
incorporated around attractive original beams, from the kitchen you
have access to the utility room. The dining area offers again
stunning views to the side aspect . To the centre of the room the
natural light is able to pour through via the floor to ceiling
windows incorporating doors which lead out onto the attractive
stone patio area, this area of the ground floor is certainly a
focal point of this home. The far reaching views across open farm
land are an every season view. The lounge area offers a warm homely
feel thanks to the wood burner with ceiling outlet flu which stands
on a glazed tile cleverly protecting the heated wood flooring. This
room also benefits from the far reaching garden views which are
complemented by the part vaultedceiling. Bedroom three is situated
directly from the lounge area and would be perfect for an elderly
guest, the bedroom itself offers the heated wood flooring and inset
spot lights with the well fitted en suite bathroom comprising of
panelled bath, wash hand basin and low level toilet which are
enhanced by the stylish tiling to both the floor and walls. The
first floor is approached via a solid wood stair case. The landing
is of modern design, with its glazed and chrome centres and enjoys
views from the previously mentioned floor to ceiling windows to the
rear aspect, making this a perfect place to sit and reflect on your
stunning new home. Bedroom two is a quaint room with some
restricted height storage to the rear of the room. The room itself
is again complemented by the en suite bathroom again with full
suite and tiling to both the floor and walls. The master bedroom is
of double size and retains the character this home offers with its
part solid beamed walls and large window to the side aspect which
offers the perfect view to awake to. The en suite bathroom is a
place of peace and tranquillity, the suite comprises of fitted
shower cubicle, his and hers sinks with mirrors over and low level
toilet. The mirrored panelled Duravit bath offers centre hot and
cold tap with separate shower attachment. The attractive room
offers a period feel by way of the internal window looking down
into the open plan living space. Returning to the ground floor
accommodation you enter in to the internal L shape hallway, where
the deceptively spacious accommodation continues you are greeted by
the same quality heated wood flooring. The first room is a well
stocked shower room with cubicle, low level toilet and wash hand
basin. Bedroom four is a large double room which the vendors use as
both guest bedroom and gym.The room has two entrance doors and
could possibly be split in to two rooms with its double glazed
window to the side aspect. Bedroom five the current vendors use as
a working office with double glazed window looking out over the
court yard parking. As you sit out on the stone patio area to the
rear garden you can enjoy its far reaching views across open farm
land. The charming setting and position of this home is certainly
adds to the welcoming ambience. The property from the moment you
enter has a homely modern feel with its under floor heating and
well stocked en suite bathrooms, but has retained the charm and
character this style of home should have. The large windows to the
rear aspect offer a relaxing and charming view of the night sky and
the views offer an all year round picture post card feel. THE

of 16th century group of properties and was converted in 2006. It
is a lovely little community with the three barns and the
farmhouse, plus our neighbours across the field. The barn's
beautiful timber structure is visible throughout and looks
particularly impressive in the spacious, open plan living space.
The contemporary-style kitchen includes an original timber post
reaching to the top of the house. There are fantastic original
beams running throughout the house, including in the bedrooms and
bathrooms, she added. It is really lovely. GO WITH THE FLOW Where
great barn doors would have once hung there is now floor-to-ceiling
glazing, flooding the interior with light and giving easy access
outside. Everywhere in the house gets sun at some point during the
day. It's brilliant, she explained. It is great here in the summer,
especially if we are eating outside; we just open up the French
windows and wander out. The terrace is great for barbecues and al
fresco dining. I love entertaining and this place is great for
that. It's just a beautiful open space for parties. I never feel
shut off in the kitchen and from the dining area you can see the
cows in the fields. We have had up to 50 guests here and you hardly
notice there are that many people. She added: When we have had
friends round with children you can keep an eye on the kids really
easily. The barn is equally lovely in winter: The house really
comes to life in the colder months, when you can cosy up in front
of the fire. With a 12ft Christmas tree and the beams it looks so
beautiful. It is a very cosy property. FIELDS OF DREAMS While the
living space is all about easy flowing openness, the bedrooms offer
privacy and seclusion. The master bedroom is upstairs and has big
windows overlooking the fields where you can see the cows grazing.
Our bedroom has fantastic views and I love to look out the window
first thing in the morning, she said. Three of the bedrooms are on
the ground floor and of these two - plus a bathroom - can form an
annexe, offering a variety of potential uses, from guest
accommodation to office space. We use one room as a study and have
our gym in another. The annexe is ideal for guests as they can have
their own privacy. HOME COMFORTS One of the delights of living here
is that it makes it easy to combine a country lifestyle with
capital commitments. When I come off the M11 my mood just lifts
instantly and my husband can get the Central Line from Epping and
be in the city in 35 minutes, she said. Murray's Barn has been put
on the market as its owners are preparing to move to France. If we
could, we would move our house there, she continued. It feels like
home the moment you walk in the door. There are vast amounts of
light coming from all angles through the windows and doors. It has
just got that wonderful warm feel. SETTING THE SCENE
