" Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and
grounds and enjoying far-reaching views from the upper levels, Gresham Place is a handsome and imposing detached country house of quality, which was designed and constructed to an exacting standard in the early years of the twentieth century. Set within one of the most sought-after private roads in the area, externally the house reflects the Arts and Crafts style of architecture and has imposing external elevations of painted render under a tall pitched tiled roof. Internally the house has spaciously proportioned accommodation extending to in excess of 9,000 square feet, which includes a three-bedroom familystaff apartment. Ceilings are tall and double glazed windows large, which along with various sets of French doors, allow for maximum natural light penetration and for lovely views of the gardens. The house is approached via a long, sweeping private drive through an avenue of trees under planted with a vast array of spring flowering bulbs, leading to a large parking and turning area in front of the house with a spur off to the garage courtyard. The gardens are lovely and park-like in design with large expanses of well-tended lawns, which include a former tennis lawn, a large variety of mature trees and shrubs, colourful herbaceous borders including a rose walk and a beautiful, fragrant wisteria, which has clouds of blossom rambling over the southern elevation during
early summer. There is a large York stone terrace
expanding to encircle the swimming pool and in front of the summer pavilion where there is a kitchen and shower room and also an outdoor kitchen area with wood-fired oven. The kitchen garden has raised beds and a soft fruit cage with a small orchard. The garage courtyard has several buildings providing covered parking and machine storage.
