" 'It's all in the detail', as they say, and this very appealing period home is up for scrutiny for the attention to detail, for the standard of finish is very hard, to find fault with. Take the window and door furniture as a perfect example; beautifully refurbished and presented to an exacting degree. And both decor and refurbishment ongoing, over a period of years, has clearly been executed with a passion for perfection....

Hoping then that the unbiased introduction raises an interest and differentiates with other properties you may be viewing on line; let us then turn to the accommodation, a floor plan of which is set out below. This is a charming Grade 11 listed house, circa 1850, with typically proportioned and elegant rooms and comprising hall with cloakroom facilities; two front reception rooms, a kitchen/breakfast room with separate utility room to ground floor and with three bedrooms (en suite facility to one) and bathroom to the first floor and with two further bedrooms to the second. There is a basement with ancillary areas. Within the garden is a substantial workshop/studio which is fully compliant with Building Regs. Starting with the front of the house, you can see from our first photograph how the pedestrian and vehicular entrance offer considerable more general open space than its neighbours, as well as how very well manicured and in such good order things look....a sign of things to come: First impressions do count. The entrance to the house is from along a sandstone flagged drive and a beautifully established front garden that offers much colour as well as privacy from inside, out. The '10 Downing Street ' spotlessly glossed front door (not black) and its polished door furniture, is an invitation alone to step in. Both reception rooms are charming rooms, with working shutters, fireplaces, glass cabinets introduced and in keeping; along with original windows restored which take in that front garden view. The kitchen is to the rear of the house and has more than ample space for a breakfast/dining table for six. There's a fine display of what you may class as a farmhouse style range of solid wood furniture with Corian work surfaces. There's a pretty view out from the kitchen window behind the sink and from the double opening doors to the garden. The utility room is a proper sized utility room with the usual facilities. To first floor and to a landing area with a feature arched window and space for a piece of furniture or two. (Some neighbouring homes have converted this area to bathroom facilities). To this floor are three good double bedrooms with one room having fitted wardrobe furniture and a shower and basin suite hidden within. The main bathroom, once a bedroom

(indeed of bedroom proportions) has a suite including separate shower and bath and comes with granite display surfaces. Up again to the top of the house, and no less well presented are two further double rooms, not the size of the three below but nevertheless good rooms, comfortable and with a pleasant landing area to both. Not only is the front garden more open than others of the same period, but the rear garden is a lot larger and wider too. It's a beautiful garden and we were not surprised to hear that the gardens have been open to the Secret Gardens of Oxton on more than one occasion. (Apt place for a plug for this year's event: 19th June, Father's Day). The garden is south to south west facing, has a courtyard area with gate opening to an established display of traditional garden spring and summer colours. The work shop or studio is a great asset with electricity supply and separate wc facility; a room for all seasons, many purposes perhaps. Location This listed building sits within the conservation area of the village and is, in fact, just a couple minutes walk to the centre of the village. Alton road has for a few years now been a one way road reducing traffic noise considerably and this top end of the road, above Shrewsbury Road, is a short part of the whole road.
