A delightful bay fronted Victorian terrace with a blend of charming period features and modern finishes, in a superb location off Bishopthorpe Road.

Dating from the turn of the century and constructed of attractive pale brick under a slate roof, the layout and design of the property is very representative of many of the fine terrace townhouses built at that time on the edge of the city centre.

Internally, there are a great number of period architectural features that include ornate fireplaces, moulded plasterwork and stripped doors, as well as modern period effect alternatives such as replacement cast iron radiators.

The ground floor accommodation opens to an entrance vestibule and hallway with original mosaic tiling.

To the front elevation is the bay fronted sitting room with a cast iron fireplace with ornate surround decorative tiling. The room has been opened into the dining room; also boasting a traditional fireplace, creating a light and airy livingdining space.

Beyond the dining room is a quality kitchen with a series of wall and base units incorporating a full complement of integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and cooker with hob surface and extractor. The painted shaker style units are contrasted by a white quarts work surface and deep set Belfast sink.

Stairs from the entrance hallway lead to a first floor landing off which are two double bedrooms together with a house bathroom with modern freestanding bath and separate shower, all decorated and finished to complement the property’s period charm.

The attic has been converted to provide a large third bedroom with en-suite shower room. The bedroom has the advantage of a rear dormer offering both additional ceiling height as well as a window providing natural light in addition to that offered by two Velux windows with inset roller blinds.

Externally is front forecourt with dwarf wall, gate and path. To the rear is an enclosed walled courtyard.

In summary, a superbly located traditional home offering balanced, well-presented accommodation.

Superbly located in the heart of the Bishopthorpe Road area, which has a thriving range of shops, restaurants, delis and pubs. For the commuter, the Railway Station is within reasonable walking distance and the outer ring road (A1237), A19 and A64 are within easy reach by car. The property is within the catchment area for Knavesmire Primary School and Millthorpe Secondary School.

From the inner ring road (A1036) to the south at Tower Street proceed in a south-westerly direction crossing Skeldergate Bridge and continue onto Bishopthorpe Road. At the traffic lights turn right into Scarcroft Road and take the third left turn into Russell Street where the property is situated on the left.
