" This Regency property is set in two acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The first record of Loudwater House built, we believe in the early 1820s, appears to be around 1841 in the ownership of James Hayward, a much decorated soldier of the Crimean Wars. After his death the estate was acquired by Viscount Malden (1867) and Joseph Arden (1868) and was then let to Joseph Samuda, MP for Tavistock. The property passed to Arden's family and was finally sold to a developer who sub-divided the house into flats in the 1920s. The most notable tenant was Panmure Gordon (1890s) a wealthy stockbroker who entertained lavishly - among his guests being the Prince of Wales (Edward VII). (Source: Hertfordshire Countryside - Feb. 1987). This stunning apartment within Loudwater House is in our opinion the finest example of the twelve separate apartments and retains many character and original features (photographs of which can be viewed on the internet). The accommodation briefly comprises, drawing room with high ceilings, separate study/library, south facing conservatory (originally the main Entrance to Loudwater House), a modern kitchen which has been renewed by the current owners in April 2008, dining area, two bedrooms and bathroom. There is ample loft storage accessed from the hallway. The apartment has a southerly aspect with views over the communal gardens and over 'Trout Stream'. "
