A stunningly positioned detached bungalow enjoying beautiful views
across the River Dart and the surrounding countryside. three
reception, rooms, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, utility room,
garage/workshop, mature gardens and parking.
SITUATION Dittisham is a picturesque Devon village located in one
of the finest locations on the beautiful Dart Estuary. The village
is highly popular with those who participate in waterborne
activities and has a thriving sailing club. Local amenities include
a historic church, village store, post office, two public houses,
the popular Anchorstone cafe and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is
within four miles. One of the loveliest river journeys in the
country takes you up the Dart to Totnes and presents a whole
spectrum of river life. Totnes itself is the highest navigable
point on the River Dart and is the gate way to the South Hams. This
lively market town is full of historic interest with narrow streets
dominated by the castle and church tower. Dartmouth is six miles
away at the mouth of the estuary. It is renowned for its deep safe
harbour and marine facilities. It also has a good range of quality
shops and restaurants. Today the harbour is busy with yachts,
sailing dinghies and fishing boats of all descriptions and the
Yacht Clubs of Dartmouth and Kingswear maintain a full racing
schedule throughout the year, which culminates in the Royal regatta
at the end of August. With first class yacht marinas at Dartmouth
and Kingswear and many deep water moorings nearby, the area
provides an ideal base to keep a boat, with cruising opportunities
to Torbay and the Solent to the east and Salcombe, Fowey and
Falmouth to the west. Or you may just prefer to sit by the river
watching the boating world go by! Devon can offer a wonderful
combination of town, city, coastal and country life, indeed it is
the only county to offer two moors and two coasts. It affords the
opportunity of a residence with a wonderful quality of life.
Whichever you choose to experience, unwind in the beautiful
countryside, enjoy the spectacular coastline both north and south
and even join in the vibrant cosmopolitan city life offered by
Exeter and Plymouth. The two cities both offer university education
and a wealth of historic sites. The South Hams is an area of
exceptional beauty and contrast with river estuaries, rolling hills
and thatched cottages surrounding lovely old towns and includes
Dartmoor National Park to the north and beaches to the south. The
South Hams is a unique area worthy of its national status as a
designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. If travel and
commuting is important to you, Exeter and Plymouth have their own
regional airports; Plymouth also has its own ferry terminal. Devon
has a comprehensive rail network and road links to the M5 motorway.
These give easy access to the rest of the UK and Europe.
DESCRIPTION Landfast was designed by the previous owners who wanted
to create a comfortable and practical home that perfectly
complemented it's amazing location. As such all the principal rooms
are positioned at the rear of the property overlooking the magical
River Dart. The accommodation has all been structured around an
impressive entrance hall with the spacious living and sleeping
areas on opposite sides of the property. On the lower ground floor
and accessed from either an internal spiral staircase or externally
through a remote up and over door or side door is a fantastic
garage and workshop. At the rear of the garage is a small hatch
that leads into a restricted height storage area beneath the main
house. The whole property has been meticulously cared for but could
benefit from some modernisation providing the perfect opportunity
for one lucky buyer to start afresh and create their perfect home.
OUTSIDE The property is surrounded on three sides by gently sloping
manicured lawns with flower and shrub borders. A large parking area
lies to the side of the property and provides ample parking for
several vehicles along with access to the garage. The oil tank is
located at the rear of the property beneath the conservatory.
