" Old Timbers is a magnificent, rare and historically significant, 5 bedroom, Grade II listed, weather boarded Wealden Hall House, with a substantial adjacent annexe, garden store and garage (ripe for conversion - stpc). Set amid idyllic and tranquil gardens of approximately one third of an acre, its unique situation allows breath-taking, uninterrupted views across the surrounding open farmland and the River Rother. Steeped in history, being the original 15th Century Customs House for the port of Newenden, in its current form, Old Timbers dates back to approximately 1450 and takes its name from the recycled ship's timbers, which it is largely constructed from.

Historians believe this area has been inhabited for well over two thousand years and more recently artefacts dating from the 12th Century have been discovered where Old Timbers currently lies. Large exposed beams are complimented by an impressive Crown / King post which runs through the property, a tell-tale feature of a handsome Hall House of this era. Further features of note include the large tiled cat- slide roof at the western end of the building, the impressive Inglenook fire place in the drawing room and the King Charles fireback in the workroom with its Government coat of Arms, highlighting the property's heritage as the old Customs House.
