Main Description
Description
202a Main Street is a lovely, immaculately presented, first and second floor apartment in an attractive part of Spittal and within easy walking distance of the beach. The property is within the Grade II listed Wilson Terrace and is presented in excellent order with a number of period features and includes a living room and dining kitchen on the first floor and two double bedrooms, a single bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. Outside there is a large shared garden to the front and a useful outbuilding and shed to the rear that could be used as a hobby room or studio.

The Grade II listed Wilson Terrace was built in 1878 by William Wilson, a local architect and sculptor.
This imposing terrace is very ornate and individual and is a fine example of the late Victorian love of decoration and ostentation, executed to a very high standard and well preserved. The building would have served as an excellent advertisement for Wilson's skills as an architect and sculptor and is an idiosyncratic piece of design.

The entrance door opens into a spacious and modern dining kitchen, designed and installed by Callerton Kitchens and ideal for those who love cooking, with sleek granite worktops providing plenty of prep space and a Brittania range cooker with double electric oven and six burner gas hob. The appliances are integrated to achieve a clean and contemporary look and include a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave oven and fridge freezer.

The elegantly proportioned living room has a living flame gas fire which recreates the ambience of a real coal fire and many period features including ornate cornicing, a ceiling rose and beautiful sash windows which flood the room with light.

Upstairs the landing leads on to a lovely double bedroom with the original cast iron fireplace and wall press and enjoys spectacular sea views through the round headed sash window. A front single bedroom again has sea views and the rear double bedroom has lovely period features including the original cast iron fireplace, wall press and round headed sash window. The bathroom is beautifully finished with contemporary fittings including a bath, shower in separate cubicle, hand basin and WC. The loft space is part boarded with a wooden pull down ladder.

Outside
To the rear of the property is a spacious outhouse which could be used as a studio or hobby room and an adjoining storage shed. To the front is a large walled communal garden area with lawns, trees and shrubs.

Location
Spittal is predominantly a residential area with a strong sense of local community providing a wonderful environment to enjoy life. Within an easy stroll are a convenience store, primary and nursery schools, bowling green, public house and a popular sandy beach with promenade and grassy areas. Further shops and amenities lie in adjacent Tweedmouth and just beyond is the area?s principal town, Berwick upon Tweed, with its comprehensive range of shops and services easily accessible by local bus, car or on foot and an East Coast mainline railway station providing regular services to Edinburgh, Newcastle & London. The A1 is close at hand, providing excellent access to the national, regional and local road network.
The local area is well known for its spectacular scenery with the rugged coastline and unspoilt beaches of North Northumberland and the imposing Cheviot Hills. Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, Bamburgh Castle and the ancient Border towns of Coldstream, Kelso and Melrose are within easy reach. There are a number of excellent links and inland golf courses locally, including a Championship course at Roxburghe, and racecourses at Kelso and Musselburgh. The area is renowned for the quality of the countryside pursuits on offer and the east coast provides dramatic scenery, magnificent beaches, sailing, sea fishing and diving. Despite its proximity to both Edinburgh and Newcastle, the area has a low population and therefore offers a quality of life that is becoming increasingly rare.
