67 Gillsland is situated in a quiet residential area in the historic fishing town of Eyemouth, and within easy walking distance of the town's amenities including a range of local shops, professional services, public houses, restaurants and the well-respected Eyemouth High School. Eyemouth lies 6 miles north of the border with England, and boasts a colourful past with a fishing fleet dating back to the 13th century and a more dubious history of smuggling. The solitary mansion of Gunsgreen House on the south side of the harbour was at the centre of this illicit trade in wine, spirits, tea and tobacco and is now a popular visitor attraction. The popular Berwickshire Coastal Path passes through Eyemouth en-route from Berwick to St Abbs and the town has access to miles of unspoilt coastline and beaches. Eyemouth also offers easy access inland to the beautiful Berwickshire countryside with its rolling hills and stunning views.

A huge choice of sporting and recreational opportunities are available with a number of excellent links and inland golf courses, race courses at Kelso and Musselburgh, salmon and trout fishing on the River Tweed and its tributaries, horse riding and hill and coast walking. Transport links are good with a mainline station at Berwick upon Tweed which has regular services to Edinburgh and Newcastle as well as London, and the A1 is close at hand for easy commuting both north and south.
