The A10 originally formed part of the Roman Road Ermine Way and historically, the town developed as a staging post on this road between London and Cambridge . The town offers a wealth of amenities including supermarkets, a selection of chain stores and local retailers, public houses and eateries and still holds its traditional weekly market each Monday.

The town is incredibly popular with families as it is well served by four good schools; Layston First School, Millfield First School, Edwinstree C of E Middle School and Freeman College Upper School.

The town is also sought after by commuters. It is ideally located 23 miles by road from Cambridge, 35 miles from the City of London and 9 miles from the larger market town of Royston which has a mainline station providing rail services to both London and Cambridge.

Snells Mead is a desirable area due to its proximity to the local park and the town centre which is less than a third of a mile away by foot. LOCATION Head out of Royston on the A10 towards Buntingford. At the roundabout turn left into Buntingford. Follow the road along into the town and bear right. Continue past the Co-Op on your left hand side and Snells Mead is located on your left hand side.
