DETAILS

Spread over four sumptuous and bright floors, this marvelous five bedroom maison will tickle your fancy no end. A plethora of period charm, lovely gardens to both front and rear and off street parking for two SUV's mean you're abundantly catered for and it’s all within a leisurely stroll of fab Forest Hill.

A wide front garden with gravel bed, mature hedging and space for two cars encourage you off the long, winding and lovely Devonshire Road. Steps lead up to a grand portico which is flanked with pillars and ornate cornice work. From here a wide period door with frosted panes opens to reveal a picture perfect hallway that sports original rustic timber floors and staircase with curling banister. The ceilings, as you would expect, are wonderfully high and create a light airy vibe. The vast double reception may be accessed from either end through the hall. A wide bay to both front and rear bathe the space in natural light and there is an impressive fireplace on either end. Wide original doors give natural separation and added versatility.

A half flight down to the lower return supplies access through a glass pane door to a small roof terrace from whence one can spy over the garden. The lower ground floor is almost exclusively given over to a spectacular kitchen/dining and living space. Stretching a clean 10 metres you'll be hard pushed to fill it at the house-warming. The country style kitchen offers plenty of counter space, a front aspect bay and huge pantry that stretches under the outside steps. The lounging area to the rear enjoys another hearth with exposed brick and period grate. Another bay with French doors lead to the patio which in turn leads to a lawn and further patio space. Back inside, the floor is completed with a bathroom with crisp white suite and matching wood panneling.

The first floor supplies three of the double bedrooms. Two face front, the right of which further benefits from a period feature fireplace. The third (vast) bedroom boasts recessed storage, garden views and a pretty white period mantel. There's a further guest w.c on the first return to help prevent morning war fare. The final climb finds you on an L shaped second landing, off which you’ll first meet with a fab front facing bathroom with roll top bath, twin wash hand basins and uber deep shower big enough for three! The fourth bedroom also fronts the street with a deep walk in wardrobe and pale blue walls. A fifth and final slumber spot peers over the garden with a most delightful period feature fireplace.

Honor Oak Park station (which will be on the new East London line extension - projection 2010) is around ten minute walk for trains to London Bridge. Not fond of trains? There are a plethora of buses running along Forest Hill Road whisking North or South. Honor Oak also has a neat high street, and Forest Hill (a 15 minute walk) has a new Sainsbury's to stock that kitchen. For wonderful green open spaces Brenchley Gardens will impress, as will the Horniman Gardens and Museum. One Tree Hill and allotments are only a five minute walk while Peckham Rye and popular East Dulwich can be reached in around 15-20 minutes by foot.
