" Standon House is an imposing Manor House believed to date from the 17th century which has been restored and extended to provide a significant family home. The main elevations are of exposed timbers with colour washed brickwork and leaded light, oak mullioned windows. The clay tiled roof has several large and small gables, some part tile hung and timbered, and the whole is dominated by clusters of ornate and intricately built red brick chimneys in the Tudor style. The exterior elevations are adorned by many prolific climbers including some very old Wisteria and climbing roses. The property is approached through electric iron gates over a long shingle drive, which culminates in a beautiful cobbled forecourt. Internally the house has a wealth of magnificent timbers, impressive fireplaces, oak joinery and ironwork which all combine to make this a very warm and elegant property. The house is complemented by its delightful gardens, manicured lawns and colourful grounds. The conservatory provides spectacular views over the lake and side gardens. A pathway leads over a stream to the swimming pool and tennis court. To the front of the house is a magnificent Sussex Barn providing further entertaining space or a home office suite together with adjacent garaging. "
