The cottage has updated bathrooms and a modern kitchen/breakfast room. There is a useful detached annexe to the rear of the cottage with potential for a home office or play room.
LOCAL INFORMATION
Checkendon is a thriving and pretty village that was listed in the Domesday Book and has many period properties. There is a popular Primary school, a well-regarded Cricket Club which plays on the village green, an Equestrian centre, village shop, post office and a 12th Century Church. Local shops can be found in nearby Wallingford (7 miles) with a good range of leisure and shopping facilities including a Waitrose, caf?s and specialist shops, with more comprehensive amenities available in Henley-on-Thames and Reading (both 8 miles distant). Henley, Goring and Reading railway stations have good services to London, Paddington (from 45 mins, 55 mins and 29 mins respectively) with Crossrail allowing direct access to the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow from 2019. The area is well served for schools, both state and private, including The Oratory, Pangbourne College, Moulsford and Cranford House Preps, with Shiplake College, Reading Blue Coat and Queen Anne's in Caversham easily accessible. The M4 is about 10 miles away and connects to the M3 and M25 motorway network. There are miles of riding and walking in the surrounding countryside.

The kitchen/breakfast room is well-fitted with a range of cream wall and floor cabinets with black granite worksurfaces and a central island. A cream 2-oven Aga is fitted and there is a wine fridge. There is plumbing for a dishwasher and connections for a built-in oven. The floor is tiled with limestone tiles which continue into the spacious utility/boot room. This has a range of units, twin sinks and a door to the garden.

Upstairs, the double aspect master bedroom has a range of fitted wardrobes and a luxurious en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath, twin hand basins and a walk-in shower. There are 4 further bedrooms and a family bathroom.
OUTSIDE SPACE
The property is approached off Whitehall Lane via a pair of large wooden electric gates. These lead into the gravel drive and up to the thatched garage. This has an electric up and over door. To the rear of the cottage is the Garden Annexe. This comprises a good-sized room, a separate store and two further stores. This would make a fine home office or play room. The gardens of the Old Cottage are delightful and have been planted and cherished over the years. They are full of perennial cottage garden plants and there are several richly planted borders, linked by old brick paths. Climbing roses tumble over arches and Clematis climb over the apple trees. There is a large brick terrace to the side and rear of the house, perfect for entertaining. The whole garden is fenced and hedged with a tremendous degree of privacy and amounts to 0.516 acres.
