Monmouth is an historic and friendly market town and is one of Britain ancient Shire towns situated within the picturesque Lower Wye Valley, at the confluence of the famous Wye with the equally well known Monnow and Trothy rivers. The town is guarded by a unique 13th century fortified gateway bridge which crosses the River Monnow, whilst the streets retain their medieval plan which it is now thought, dates back to Roman times.

However in more contemporary times it has developed into thriving business centre which has attracted an above average range of shops and stores including a Somerfield/Co-operative, a Waitrose, Marks & Spencer Food Hall, in addition to which, the many multiple retailers are augmented by well established, family run shops. The town also supports a Leisure Centre, two theatres presenting professional entertainment and screening the latest films, as well as a dual education system. With the A40 trunk road passing its periphery, it commands rapid access to both South Wales and the industrial Midlands, while 16 miles to the South, the original Severn Bridge gives rapid access to the Home Counties and West of England.
