" Old Mustard Mews is a 9 plot, private development in the centre of Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. An intriguing mix of conversion and new build, the nine houses are all modern, stylish homes that are drenched in history.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SITE
Taylors Mustard was formed in 1825 by William Taylor. Originally a chemist, Taylor developed his own unique recipe, a closely guarded secret, and produced the first English mustard to be sold ready prepared. He moved into 34 High Street a few years later and founded his factory in Union Street, where Taylors Mustard was then made for over 170 years. The factory having closed in 1990, the site remained empty and abandoned for years, but still embodied so much of our heritage and history. Now the site with its characterful buildings and in its prime central location lives again, except as beautiful dwellings for you to enjoy living in.

Constructed to the highest specifications and finished with fittings from premium brands, everything within an Old Mustard Mews home is designed to give you total peace of mind and make your life as easy, enjoyable and as economic as you`ve always wanted it to be.

BETTER INSULATION BUILDS BETTER HOMES
When it came to construction it was important to use a technique that allowed us to create dwellings that complemented the style of the old factory buildings that were still in existence on the site. Nudura ICF (Insulating Concrete Formwork) is reinforced polystyrene forms, connected in a web system and then filled with concrete. Using it we`ve been able to keep the beautiful ?sawtooth` pitched roofs and vaulted ceilings synonymous with old factories.
INNOVATION MEETS INSULATION
Old Mustard Mews is a blend of imaginative conversion and stylish modern build. Plots 1 and 2 are ingenious renovation of the existing factory building, exploiting the strengths and character of the original construction but employing the latest technology to offer all modern comforts.
The other plots are constructed by the innovative and robust ICF method, which also offers incredible levels of insulation against weather, noise and damp.
BLOCKING OUT THE WEATHER, NOISE AND DAMP
It will also keep you warm in winter and cool in summer, delivering energy savings of up to 70% when compared to traditional timber-framed building methods. But the first thing you`ll notice is that your home is so quiet and peaceful. It will be dry, too, as ICF is proven to be one of the most effective and long-lasting forms of insulation against damp and moisture.
STATE OF THE ART UNDERFLOOR HEATING
When we were designing Old Mustard Mews we wanted to install the very best form of heating. So we`ve installed state-of-the-art underfloor heating as standard. It`s more efficient, gives you more control over temperature and eliminates cold spots Floors retain heat far better than traditional radiators and so it takes less energy to maintain a warm house. In fact, it is estimated you can keep your boiler two degrees cooler and still achieve the same levels of comfort as traditional central heating.
As an added bonus, with no unsightly radiators attached to the walls, you can decorate and furnish your home and with far greater freedom.
WALL TO WALL CONVENIENCE
We wanted your walls to be safe, durable and easy to live, providing you with the freedom to plan rooms and spaces as you wish. That`s why we installed British Gypsum`s super-strength Habito plasterboard throughout all our Old Mustard Mews homes. Made with an engineered core, they can hold 15kg on a single screw, so you can hang your TV`s, shelves, railing and mirrors with no tricky DIY handiwork. And with no unsightly radiators to work around, you`ll love how easy it is to plan, decorate and organise your wall space.
IT`s A STICK UP
Say goodbye to sticky and busy notice boards and say hello to the future. Kids and grown-ups alike will delight in the endless possibilities for sticking up decorations, paintings, pictures and notes. That`s because kitchens, studies and play areas will have British Gypsum`s Magnetic plaster built-in. You just put stuff up, as easily as a magnet on a fridge! Super-strength, magnetic walls may sound like something from a sci-fi movie. But once you`ve seen them in action in our homes, you`ll be back.
SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY THROUGHOUT
Have you ever gone on holiday and wondered if you`ve left the heating on? Or wished you could dim the lights without getting up from your sofa? Well, these are just a couple of things you won`t have to worry about if you move in to Old Mustard Mews. A revolutionary wireless system that lets you automate all aspects of your home. Through your smartphone, you can control your electrical devices, your lights, your music, your alarm. Almost anything. It also keeps your Old Mustard Mews house safe by warning you about open windows, smoke, running taps, irons that have been left on, the lot. It will then do something about it like turn off the iron or stop your water supply. It`s a system that`s designed to work in harmony with your lifestyle, taking care of you, your family and your home. And it comes as standard.
