" The history of the house is well known to many of the islanders. Originally purchased by the local Coal Merchant who employed servants to look after the home and family. The second famous resident was Doctor Fitzgerald who brought up his family and would see private patients at the house. The rear extension, now a utility room, was used as a small pharmacy and treatment area. Doctor Fitzgerald wrote a book on treating back pains and was renowned for his research. The house is sometime still referred to as Doctor Fitzgeralds old house. The property is an excellent family home with plenty of space for working from home. The features include the former butlers room on the ground floor, the top former servants quarters, fireplaces, and decorative ceilings, make it an interesting place to live. It also lends it self to a change of use be that for rental guest home or flat conversion. Good motorway access to Kent and London coupled with a good train link to London and excellent coach connections to London for commuting, add to its attraction. Last but not least the local hospital and excellent Medical Centre gives you comfort and security. The house is an ideal family home where the younger members can play hide and seek, whilst the older members can enjoy the privacy of entertaining their friends in the abundance of the accommodation.

What the Owner says:

We were attracted to Jessima has it was a large family home with plenty of living space, ideally suited for five children. The area is close to the Glen and the Leas for walking and, visiting the local restaurants, also the shops at The Broadway and Minster Village takeaways make it a good location. Last but not least local primary schools, the Academy and good travel facilities to the Sittingbourne schools made it a wise choice. We installed a high pressure central heating system, double glazed windows to several rooms. We have also upgraded the lounge ceiling, keeping the original features.
