It works very well as family space for us. The avenue is a friendly and caring place. It is a quiet hidden gem, tucked away in Meanwood. The avenue has two annual street parties, one on bonfire night and a mid summer afternoon event. Both are enjoyed by children and adults. The turning circle is closed off for a few hours whilst fireworks and hot food are enjoyed in winter or BBQs/paddling pools and salads in summer. All of the amenities of Meanwood and Headingley are within easy walking distance. Green spaces and woods are all within close distance for dog walking or cycling. For locations further afield buses to Headingley/Moortown or Leeds City centre stop at the end of the avenue on Stonegate Road. A taxi to Chapel A is cheap and very quick. We have especially enjoyed being able to walk, cycle or push the buggy to Meanwood Park, Waitrose Cafe, Meanwood Cricket Club, the Bay Horse and Mertyll Tavern pubs for Sunday lunch. The neighbours are a friendly bunch and are part of a Facebook Group. We operate a Neighbour Hood Watch Scheme also. Getting your pots and hanging baskets watered in the summer is never a problem.
