LOCATION Beaumaris, which means 'beautiful marsh' is situated towards the south easterly corner of the island and is home to the last Edwardian castle to be built in Wales. Sitting right on the banks of the Menai Strait there are some superb views of the mountains of Snowdonia from the promenade. Beaumaris was established by Edward I as the site for the last of his 'iron ring' castles dating back to 1295. There is much to enjoy in and around the vibrant town with quaint streets to explore and a wide variety of independent shops, taverns and restaurants. The area provides a great spot for fishing and sailing and there is also a fabulous golf course. With plenty of fine beaches and coves in the vicinity, together with excellent road links leading to the city of Bangor and A55, the area could be just what you are looking for.
