Blaenau ffestiniog offers a good range of amenities that include a sports centre and swimming pool, Secondary and Primary schools as well as a variety of independent shops and cafes. The village is historically linked to the slate industry and there are numerous attractions that you can visit and learn about the slate quarrying industry. In addition there is the world famous Ffestiniog railway, which offers an incredible journey by a narrow gauge steam train from Blaenau town to Porthmadog. Recent new attractions in the area are the zip wire rides and the "bounce below" at the Llechwedd Slate caverns.
