A unique Grade II listed home complemented by mature well maintained gardens located in a delightful setting backing onto open fields with rural views towards The Chilterns. The original part of the house is believed to date from the 15th century, with additions in the 17th century and further extended in the early 20th century. Originally two cottages with adjoining barn, the property has an enormous amount of character and charm throughout with many early period features still remaining including the original cruck trusses, wooden and quarry tiled floors and leaded casement windows. Internally, the property provides excellent family living and entertaining space. The reception rooms on the ground floor include the sitting room, which was originally the barn, a particularly charming room with inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove and, located at the rear of the house overlooking and opening to the garden, is the family room forming the newer part of the house which was sympathetically added in the 1930’s. The original part of the house features a recently updated contemporary kitchen with timber worktops and Aga which in turn opens onto a beautiful dining room with the brick inglenook fireplace that provides a great space for family and friends to gather. The kitchen is complemented by a walk-in larder and a separate laundry room. The first floor is accessed via two separate staircases, one giving access to the master bedroom with en-suite shower room and the other to three further bedrooms and the family bathroom. There is also a further ground floor suite with private access comprising bedroom/reception and en-suite shower room, enjoying a lovely outlook with French doors opening to the garden.

The delightful gardens complement the house and provide a particularly attractive setting. Predominantly laid to lawn with a large variety of flower borders, shrubs and trees. Originally an orchard, the front garden, which has a β€˜wishing’ well next to the house, has a variety of fruit trees including apple, pear, greengage, plums and cherry. To the rear of the house is a large area of lawn featuring a mature tree under which is a terrace providing a delightful al-fresco eating area enjoying views to the south towards the Chilterns. Within the garden is a well maintained kitchen garden, a garden shed, greenhouse and a Amdega summer house. The detached garage with vine growing over is located at the entrance to the property next to the gravelled driveway which provides ample parking space.
