" From time to time a house comes to the market that feels like the very essence of what makes a home and this is exactly one of those occasions. Elcombe has been much loved and hugely enjoyed by our clients who have also very cleverly and sympathetically enlarged it to make a very practical home that caters extremely well for the needs of today's living. From the start and throughout, delightful original features now go hand in hand with a contemporary and stylish finish to make a perfect blend of the old and the modern. Beneath the charming covered verandah the front door leads into an at once welcoming reception hall that creates a warm and comfortable feel that in fact runs through the whole house. Off the hall on the front there are two very comfortable reception rooms, one a very charming sitting room with a central fireplace that houses a log burner while the other is currently used as a perfect family room. Both of these double aspect rooms look out across the verandah and the beautiful front garden beyond and indeed have a number of possible uses depending upon the needs of an incoming buyer. On the back of the house the day-to-day living rooms work tremendously well on a practical level and very much feel like the heart of the home. Adjacent to each other, the kitchen and superb conservatory style family room interconnect to create a wonderful informal living space that overlooks the rear garden and indeed has doors out from the family room. The kitchen is beautifully fitted out with a range of wooden units, granite and solid wood worktops and all of the expected appliances that include a large stainless steel range oven. At one end there is space for a large table and chairs beneath a semi vaulted ceiling all of which looks out over the garden through a large picture window that allows in a great deal of light. The family room is likewise flooded with light thanks to its glass extension which also makes this a beautifully proportioned room and, with its rich, underfloor heated, solid wood floor, one that also has a very comfortable feel to it. Upstairs the bedrooms continue in the same light and airy vein, are all doubles and likewise have a very charming and comfortable feel to them. The master bedroom looks out over the front garden and has a very attractive full en suite bathroom while the guest bedroom on the back also has its own shower room with a rain sensor Velux window. The remaining three double bedrooms are equally well proportioned while the family bathroom is beautifully fitted out with bath, shower and twin basins set into a marble surround with drawers below and also has a rain sensor Velux window that allows in a good deal of light and underfloor heating. All in all this is an exceptional home of outstanding character that is situated in a wonderfully quiet and private setting. "
