SITUATION:    Cerne Abbas, voted best village in Dorset in 2005 and best village in England in 2008, is world renowned for it's 180' chalk figure of the Cerne Giant, which is believed to be an iron age fertility symbol. The village itself nestles amidst the most picturesque valley of the river Cerne designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty expanding over the centuries around the original great Benedictine monastery.
