" Vernon Lodge in a sentence.... This spacious family home which sits in the sought after Lady Manners School catchment area just on the outskirts of the lovely town of Bakewell in a small exclusive development of large stone built properties.

Where is Vernon Lodge? Just outside the bustling market town of Bakewell in a smart development of executive style family homes is Vernon Lodge. Originally the show home for this development the home has a double garage, driveway with further parking and easily managed private and pretty, mature gardens. Lovely rural views surround the property. Conveniently situated, just off the A6 the home is well positioned for commuting to Sheffield, Derby, Chesterfield or Nottingham. The national rail hub at Chesterfield is half an hour by car, whilst Sheffield town centre is a mere 40 minutes away.

Not only is the home situated in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, the delights of Chatsworth House, Haddon, Hardwick, Thornbridge and Hassop Halls are all close by. Carsington Water is approximately 20 minutes from here. The market towns of Wirksworth, Matlock and Ashbourne are all within easy reach, providing independent shopping, independent cinemas and a range of bars, restaurants and leisure facilities. The front door opens into a large entrance hall. On the left, Colonial style double doors lead into the lovely sitting room. A dual aspect spacious room with a wooden fire surround and living flame fire in a marble insert. Further, double, Colonial style doors at the far end create a perfect entertaining space providing access into the spacious formal dining room which overlooks the garden.

Back into the hallway, opposite the dining room is a door into the airy cloakroom which has a basin set into vanity cupboards whilst a large under stairs cupboard provides useful storage space and/or space for a tumble drier.

To the left of the dining room is the dining kitchen which has an extensive range of limed oak storage cupboards, and plenty of preparation space across the granite style worktops. There is a resin one and half bowl with mixer tap, Bosch electric double oven, dishwasher and space for a fridge along with a Bosch four ring gas hob. A large peninsular unit provides breakfasting and further preparation space. Slim double doors lead into the very useful utility room. Further matching cupboards including tall double cupboards another basin and space for a washing machine along with vinyl flooring create a very useful functional room with direct access to the rear terrace and garden. Upstairs..... The first and second floors in this large property provide multi functional space which could easily be adapted to create home office, recreational, independent or further en suite accommodation. The first floor landing offers excellent storage potential with wardrobes, shelving and a fitted window seat. To the right of the staircase is a useful office/study room with telephone and TV aerial point. Beyond here is a large, contemporary family bathroom with built in cupboards, ladder style towel rail radiator, separate shower cubicle and three piece suite. The master bedroom contains three double wardrobes (the centre wardrobe with glazed feature doors), mullioned window and access to the unusually large, dual aspect en suite. A further double is found at the end of the landing again with a dual aspect and lovely views. There is a final double room, which also has a good range of fitted wardrobes. Second floor potential... As previously described the second floor offers a multitude of possibilities. At the moment there are three large (double) rooms into the eaves along with a good sized walk in storage room. The rooms all have Velux windows, creating light and space whilst the two rooms situated on the gable side of the property also have small windows taking in the rural views beyond. They have previously been used as a hobby room, spare bedroom and a gymnasium. Outside... A wide tarmac drive leads to a five bar wooden gate and the double garages beyond. Both garages have up and over metal electric doors. A side door provides access to the rear of the garage space, with a small window to the side of the door. There is also first floor storage the garages would (with the necessary permissions) make a very attractive studio or home office.

A pathway leads behind the garages with a gravelled area currently accommodating a small shed and bike store. The garden area immediately behind and to the side of the house although compact is beautifully and extensively planted. There is a paved terrace, low stone walling, outside tap and fencing. A well planted bed to the front side of the property is situated opposite an island area of lawn, trees and shrubs which is also owned by the property. The property has access to full mains services with the Council Tax at Band F. Directions to Vernon Lodge: Directions from our Matlock office: turn left onto New Street, right onto Steep Turnpike. At the roundabout take a second exit onto the A615. At the next roundabout take the second exit onto the A6 signed Buxton. Continue onto the A6 into and through Bakewell. At the roundabout take the 1st exit continuing on the A6. Shortly after leaving Bakewell, Vernon Green can be found on the right hand side, with Vernon Lodge being the first property on your left (look out for our board).
