The property is situated on the High Peak Trail, a 17 mile trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The elevated trail affords many splendid views across the countryside. The property is also a few minutes walk from the famous Black Rock, popular for rock-climbing and walkers, which affords spectacular views from the top. The current owners of the cottage often enjoy an evening stroll to enjoy an incredible sunset on the rocks before returning home for dinner on the terrace. Also, just a 2 minutes walk from home will take you to a local farm selling the most delicious fresh eggs.

Just a five minutes drive and you'll find yourself in the historic town of Wirksworth, one of the oldest towns in this area of the Peak District and is still one of those with greatest character. Centred around its marketplace, it has many fine old buildings with picturesque alleys and craftsmen's yards. Along with its character it also boasts all the amenities that you'd like to find on your doorstep, such as great bakeries, butchers and convenience stores. It has a number of good pubs and great restaurants too. It has its own independent cinema and a leisure centre where the you can enjoy the gym, exercise classes, swimming and even a climbing wall.

Belper is less then a 20 minutes drive, where hidden gems are waiting to be discovered, from great independent friendly little shops, to Artisan bakeries, chocolatier, delicious delis and unique stores the town offers a true high street experience. It also houses the Ritz cinema which has been called the peak in the Peaks, where you can relax in luxury sitting with a glass of wine or coffee and cake whilst watching a film.

In Matlock, only a 15 minutes drive?you'll find a?Co-op and in Belper is a Morrison's.

Carsington Water a popular reservoir, just a 10 minutes drive. Gulliver's Kingdom is a theme park for young families, in a situation overlooking Matlock Bath.

Harboro Rocks are an edge of magnesian limestone near Brassington, offering rock climbing and fantastic scenery.

Heights of Abraham, above Matlock Bath, has cable cars, 2 show caves and numerous other attractions.

High Tor is a lofty limestone crag which towers over Matlock Bath.

Masson Mills in Matlock Bath are Sir Richard Arkwright's masterpiece, a magnificent early 19th century mill. The mill has been converted into a shopping village, with exhibition and conference centre, but it also has a working textile museum.

The National Stone Centre in Middleton, a few minutes from the cottage, has geological displays, fossils, stone walling courses, panning for gems and other activities.

Fanny Shaw's Playing Field, just out of Wirksworth, is the principal recreation area for the north of the town. It houses a new skate park and play area. In the south of the town, there is the "Rec", where there is another children's play area, along with cricket and football pitches.
