" Take a look at this distinguished home. Mount Vyner is a classically traditional family home. A home appreciated by the same family for quite some time. A family fortunate enough to have grown up surrounded by dignified and gracious features which they acknowledge contribute to the very soul of this home..

A little clarity In order to impart some of that 'periodness', unusually, however appropriately in this instance, we have decided to draw up a list of a few of these attributes which so clearly define Mount Vyner for what it is: elegant and substantial and absolutely characterful. This is to enable you, the potential buyer, to understand that whilst there are of course modern additions - kitchen bathroom and shower room facilities, much of that original character remains. Much to discover & appreciate We could have taken a hundred photographs, then again house viewers tell us they like discover aspects of a house themselves. So, and in no particular order we would start by highlighting the woodblock flooring to certain rooms; the butler's pantry with glass cabinets, wooden drainer and Belfast sink. The oak wood panelling to the hall, stairs and landing along with a spectacular stained and leaded sandstone mullioned glass piece to the front elevation and stairwell; the glazed brick fireplace to the hall or the three other very different, ornate fireplaces throughout the ground floor - our favourite being within the Inglenook to the main through living room. Windows throughout the house are original, well maintained with original lead lights to the transoms (other than for the patio doors to the morning room). Some rooms have pretty corner bays, or, as in the sitting room, a matching glass door opening to the garden; and then there are the Edwardian wash basins both to the cloakroom facilities and to a number of the bedrooms. Also look out for the beams to the ceilings within the reception hall and dining room and finally for the 'period' radiators. In contrast to the traditional, there's a smart, modern, black and white kitchen, with polished black granite work tops; a black and white tiled shower room and a white combined bathroom suite. Halls can be a personal statement There's much to look out for in the reception hall, as you can surmise. Once passed the main reception, you'll come across the lower or inner part of the hall - an attractive area you'll only get to see if you're not ushered directly into the dining room for a formal affair. Here there's also a second door from the dining room to the inner corridor for a quick escape for the maids, as was, to the kitchen quarters and butler's pantry. The kitchen is 'open plan' to the morning room and which makes for an obvious gathering point for the family. A welcoming, even cosy room, bright though with sliding doors opening up to the patio and garden areas. The kitchen is serviced by quite a substantial utility room. Choose your space There are three principal entertaining rooms. You'll see from the floor plan how all rooms, except bedroom numbers five and six, (the latter currently commandeered as study), face south and onto the gardens. A simple thought in design and of course hugely important. In fact the main living room to the south west wing of the house is a 'through room'. You'll see a photograph of the front garden areas on our slide show of pictures, showing off how private and well screened the entire frontage of Mount Vyner is. This is an elegant room, relaxing with light pastel shades of decor that compliment the wood block flooring. As we say, it enjoys two special features; the fireplace and bay window. As the children have flown, so Mr & Mrs find themselves more snuggled up within the smaller of the two sitting rooms, the room with the french door, fireplace and book shelves. Sitting room, garden room or library perhaps - you choose. First floor Pass on up the central staircase and spectacular stained glass window to a landing area that clearly has similar proportions to the hall, remembering that all principal bedrooms face south looking down upon family gardens, gloriously private from beyond. Charming The master bedroom reflects the main living room with its corner bay window. It's a significantly large bedroom and a very pretty room too. In fact all the bedrooms have their own personalities and with bedroom number five having another particularly attractive bay. All six bedrooms are serviced by the shower room and bathroom which has its own separate loo. We dare say there's ample room for the introduction of an en suite or two over this floor space too should you consider it appropriate. Outdoors We've mentioned the frontage and its privacy, thanks to a number of rather elegant Scots Pine trees. There's good parking facilities to the front forecourt and a large detached garage stands to the side. An inconspicuous, enclosed yard stands behind the wall with access to the utility - useful for storing winter fuel for the open fires. The rear garden is first and foremost a 'family' garden. A good flat lawn plays central stage with deep borders in part to the far boundary.
