An utterly charming 18th century period house with considerable character. This special home is presented to an exceptionally high standard and has been meticulously renovated with great attention paid to creating the atmosphere of a beautiful period home. Situated in historic' Pickwick', made famous by Charles Dickens' Pickwick Papers', which is on the edge of the ancient town of Corsham and within easy walking distance of the picturesque High Street. The elegant and stylish accommodation, which retains immense charm and considerable character is arranged over three floors and briefly comprises; a very grand reception hall with flag stone floor, archway leading to inner hall which gives access to the stairs and cellar. The main sitting room is at the front of the house and has been beautifully restored with oak floor boards, new joists, sash windows and the discovery of the stunning Inglenook fireplace, bread oven and spice cupboard which now has a wood burning stove and flag stone hearth. The snug sits between the sitting room and dining room with a sash window that frames the wonderful outlook through the French doors looking out into the garden and has an open fireplace with hob grate, slate hearth, oak floor boards, original corner cupboard and window seat. At the rear of the house is the modern dining room which is incredibly light and spacious and has a glass roof, French doors that open out onto the garden, limestone tiled floor with electric underfloor heating, a built in storage cupboard and a cloakroom that leads off, again with underfloor heating. Beyond the dining room is the beautiful kitchen which really has the Wow factor, as the ceilings are vaulted with oak framed beams along with a mezzanine level which has many uses and creates an aspect of fun to the kitchen! Bursting with vast amounts of character this room is still very functional with space for a table, oak fronted units with granite work tops, Belfast sink unit, gas fired Aga, cupboard for fridge freezer, terracotta quarry tiled floor, and wig cupboard! The cellar is accessed via the hallway and houses a water softener. On the first floor is bedroom one and the large stylish bathroom. With a beautifully restored Ashlar stone fireplace with hob grate, Victorian wash stand with stone wash hand basin, bath/shower with limestone tiles, solid oak floor boards, sash window and cupboard housing the boiler this is definitely a bathroom that impresses! Bedroom one is large, and again has all of the original features such as beautifully crafted wood panelling, built in cupboards, sash windows and fireplace. On the second floor is another landing area with built in cupboard, bedroom two and three, both of which are doubles. The second bedroom also has a vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers, sash window and Velux. To the rear is a beautiful South facing walled garden which has been landscaped by the current owners using old stone from the house to create an elevated lawn with borders running around the edge of the garden. the patio area which has been paved with Indian sandstone is perfect for al fresco dining with some shade created by the Cherry tree. A wonderful stone built outbuilding sits at the bottom of the garden which is a useful garden store.
