"A charming character cottage, retaining many original features including exposed beams, latch doors & an old fireplace. The delightful location and the improvements that have been made to this home combine to provide a comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The property must be seen to be appreciated.

DETAILS This is your chance to buy a piece of local history - this charming cottage dates back to 1550 and is one of the oldest buildings in Shalford which gives rise to it's Grade II listing. Tucked away from The Street behind another property, where you won't be troubled by unsolicited door knockers and leaflet droppers, the house exudes 'olde world' character and charm whilst having been completely and sympathetically restored to an exacting standard by the current owners. Stepping through the front door into the open plan kitchen and dining room with its vaulted ceiling, the scene is set for the rest of the house. The kitchen has space and plumbing for all the modern conveniences as well as a good range wooden fronted storage units, double oven with gas hob, tiled splash back, stone tiled flooring and room for a dining table. From the kitchen, a door leads to the sitting room that has a delightful bay window overlooking a courtyard and the rear garden beyond. The sitting room also has wooden flooring throughout and a large open fireplace, currently dormant, which was used, in days gone by, as the 'smoking fire' to dry-cure hams. From the sitting room, doors off a small hall give access to the double aspect family room, which could just as easily be used as an additional bedroom. The bathroom has a white suite comprised of a panel enclosed bath with shower above, low level w.c, hand basin and part-tiled walls. A staircase leads to a first floor bedroom with an outlook over the rear garden and a built-in cupboard. To summarise, a beautiful character home with bags of charm in a village location and it must be seen to be truly appreciated."
