This magnificent house combines Georgian splendour and sophistication with charm and character. The renowned architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, famous for Portmeirion, extensively remodelled this Georgian residence in 1926 and also designed its gardens. The storerooms beyond the kitchen are prime illustrations of his design and yet Georgian features remain with fine fireplaces, sash windows and high ceilings. Presteigne has been described by the national press as one of the top 10 best small towns. It is a vibrant community with delightful shops and a popular destination for foodies.

The main reception hall runs from front to back and there is an impressive staircase. The library/study has an open fireplace and leads through to a stunning drawing room which has a bay window overlooking the garden. French doors lead to the main terrace and there are also French doors leading out into the loggia. There is also a separate sitting room with parquet flooring and a south facing window allowing in plenty of natural sunlight. The kitchen/breakfast room has a two oven Aga, ample fitted units and also an attractive built in Welsh dresser. From the kitchen there is access to a cloaks/WC and into a semi-circular area which includes the wood store, scullery and wine store.

On the first floor are 6 bedrooms. The master bedroom suite includes the bedroom area with bay window facing south, a large en suite bathroom and a separate dressing room. There are 3 other en suite facilities and the main family bathroom on the first floor. On the second floor is a further suite of rooms which include a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom.

Adjoining the house is a delightful loggia which is a wonderful sheltered entertaining area and ideal for eating alfresco. There are also a range of stables and a traditional barn as well as a garage with an office above.

The stunning gardens are a very special feature. There is an Italianate sunken garden with ponds and rose beds. The summer house and secret garden lie in secluded situation behind a yew hedge. There is a formal kitchen garden, an orchard with a peach house and a cob nut orchard. There is a level paddock and in all the grounds extend to around 6 acres.
