Witney is a small country town steeped in history, but with good modern amenities and a bustling community life. There are fine buildings surrounding the ancient Buttercross in Market Square and a twice weekly market. Countryside is all around and the river Windrush flows through the town providing bankside walks and fishing. The Leisure centre caters for a variety of sports and there are excellent schools nearby, including a number of church schools. There is a good cinema in Witney with nearby restaurants whilst Oxford and Cheltenham provide larger shopping and cultural centres. Public transport is available from Witney to Oxford and further on to London whilst Long Hanborough, Oxford Parkway and Charlbury all have main line stations which provide regular train services to London.
