Agents Note 6 Grange Park is believed to be former residence of Flt Lt Richard Algernon Dacre Trevor-Roper, a member of the famous Dambusters squadron and a close friend of Guy Gibson who described him as one of the real squadron characters. With more than 50 operations, Trevor-Roper was probably the most experienced air gunner to take part in the Dams Raid, and was the gunnery leader, earning the distinguished flying cross. He married Patricia Audrey Edwards in 1941 and she gave birth to their first son, Charles, in 1943 but unfortunately Trevor-Roper lost his life on March 31st 1944 at the age of 28, a night that saw bomber command lose 95 bombers from a total of 795 which set out to attack Nuremberg. He is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery in Germany.
