"This well proportioned four/five bedroom family home offers versatile accommodation with an open plan feel. ideal for entertaining there are three/four reception rooms, a spacious kitchen/breakfast room and a conservatory overlooking the swimming pool and pretty garden. The Story Leaning against his warm Aga or sitting in a sunny spot in his kitchen and watching the birds out in the garden, it's easy for owner Stephen Bolton to enjoy the relaxed ambience of his family home. But even returning to work either at the kitchen table on his laptop or heading into the study is little hardship as the house has such a wonderful feel, he said. I love working from home, he admitted. I can open up the double doors while I work and let a gentle breeze blow through the house, which is wonderful. Family House Stephen bought Hunters Moon three years ago and has enjoyed updating it throughout, creating a free flowing, comfortable, secure home with room for everyone. That meant ensuring there was enough space for the family's five teenagers, as well as the two adults, with room to socialise as well as to escape to. The second sitting room at the front of the house is brilliant for sleepovers, he said. The teenagers love being there with friends, and their noise doesn't disturb the rest of the house. Very often Stephen will find he has several extra guests for the weekend, and he doesn't mind at all. It's fine, we've got the room, he added. Outdoor Life Another attraction was the heated outdoor pool, which is in frequent use during the summer months. There are often toys in the garage too, including speed boats with which the family often make plans to head to nearby lakes or to The Wash. With space for indoor and outdoor entertaining, Hunters Moon is also an easy house for hosting parties and informal gatherings. People flow from the open plan dining area into one sitting room and then into the next. Indeed, all the reception rooms have ample space for plenty of sofas and chairs. Alfresco Entertaining It is usually not long before the party flows on to the terrace and around the pool, said Stephen. The terrace is always a popular spot for barbeques and al fresco dining, with room for tables and chairs, as well as recliners. Stephen is always happy to cater, extending the sunblind over the kitchen doors to create extra shade when working hard in the kitchen. There's plenty of room in the kitchen, which I love, he said. There's space to move about and to chat to guests at the same time. Above It All Another great pleasure at Hunters Moon is being able to sit outside on the balcony. In the mornings, Stephen enjoys taking breakfast out there whenever possible. In the evenings, it is the perfect place to look at the moon and the stars. It's south facing, so during the day you are sitting in the sunshine, it is lovely, he said. In the spring and summer, you are completely screened from the neighbours and the view of the garden and trees is beautiful. Perfect Home Stephen loves the house, which has detailed planning permission for a further two bedrooms over the garage, and the garden, with its mature trees and productive raised vegetable area. But as his life has changed, he feels he ought to move to a smaller property and let another family enjoy the space of Hunters Moon. This has been a wonderful place to live for all the family, he added. Mediterranean Dreams Set in a sought after area on the south of Nottingham, Hunters Moon was built in the 1970s to embody a subtle Mediterranean air. With its sunny aspect and warm ambience, the house and the gardens have a holiday feel about them. Upstairs, two balconies offer great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, with their views over the pool and garden. Inside, the large arch dividing but not separating the dining and living area adds to the open plan European style, while also demonstrating the flexibility of the house. The open aspect sunny conservatory offers another chance to enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean, decorated, like the entire house, in a contemporary calm palette of white, sand and stone shades. Dive Right In The swimming pool has been hugely enjoyed by all the family. Stephen, who built a new pool house and updated all the equipment, finds the solar cover brings it up to air temperature easily and the heater tops the warmth up to a very comfortable swimming level. It is a decent size pool and it is a lot less expensive to run than I thought and a lot easier to maintain than I expected, he said. The pool is used throughout the summer, from June to the end of September, and is a great focal point for the many barbeques and parties hosted at Hunters Moon. Children love playing in it and teenagers enjoy endless games of water polo and water fights, while floating about on an inflatable in the sun is a perfect way to enjoy an afternoon for the adults. SECLUDED In the spring and summer, you are completely screened from the neighbours and the view of the garden and trees is beautiful. ENTERTAINING Hunters Moon is also an easy house for hosting parties and informal gatherings, with space for indoor and outdoor entertaining. Fine is the seller's agent for this property.
