Located in the heart of Towcester in the area known as The Castles, the property is only a few minutes walk to the town centre and other amenities such as the leisure centre and local schools. The town of Towcester dates to Roman times when it was known as Lactodurum and lays claim to being the oldest town in Northamptonshire. The modern day St Lawrence's Church in Towcester is thought to occupy the site of a large Roman civic building, possibly a temple. Small fragments of Roman pavement can be seen next to the church's boiler room. It is also thought that a Roman pillar is in the garden of one of the houses along Watling Street. Towcester is famous for its racecourse, originally part of the Easton Neston estate on the east side of the town. Many important national horse racing events are held there. In 2010 the World Hovercraft Championship was held on the racecourse with Participants from England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, US, France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and Slovakia.
