LOCATION & AMENITIES Once a village, Kingsthorpe is now a suburb to the northwest of Northampton town centre. The old village is set behind Kingsthorpe Road (A508) where most of the businesses and shopping facilities are located. Starting at the junction where local landmark public house, The Cock Hotel, is sited, this road takes you past the recently regenerated, Kingsthorpe Shopping Centre - home to two large supermarkets, pharmacy, mobile phone store, opticians and travel agent. Across the A5199 Welford Road junction further shops, banks, take away foods, public houses, florist and beauty salons line the road continuing up to the 'Whitehills' area of this suburb. Subject recently to small modern developments, there are two large 1970s built housing estates, one on the east side and one on the west of Kingsthorpe centre.
