"A fine Victorian property offering an appealing oasis of opulence and splendour faithful to a bygone and gentile era, whilst having the benefit of comfortable contemporary living, albeit on a rather grand scale. Sympathetically updated by the current vendors, the many period features have been carefully retained within this imposing former hunting lodge. The property is reputed to have been built as one of a distinguished pair for the Duke of Bridgewater.   The accommodation incorporates a period tiled entrance hall, with double gothic inspired doors, a fine principal drawing room, a comprehensively fitted kitchen, with adjacent formal dining room.   There are 5 bedrooms to the upper two floors. The residence is a fine vantage point having far reaching views across St James Lake and open countryside beyond. Arranged over four lavish floors, this fine period house also enjoys ample off road parking, garaging and most convenient access to the centre of the favoured and bustling market town of Brackley.

Situation
The South Northamptonshire town of Brackley lies between Banbury in North Oxfordshire and the county town of Buckingham. The town prospered during the 18th and 19th centuries as an important stopping off point on the Oxford-Northampton coaching route. Several inns can still be seen in the town centre. Today the town is centred around the Market Place and High Street, with the focal point being the free standing Town Hall built in 1706 for the first Duke of Bridgewater. The town offers many facilities including supermarkets, doctors, dentists, schooling, a leisure centre and a swimming pool. Further facilities can be found in Banbury. The town is conveniently located for the A43 dual carriageway providing access for the M1 and M40 motorways. Railway services can be found at Banbury and Bicester (London Marylebone).   An enviable range of educational resources populate the area, including Winchester House, Stowe School, The Royal Latin Grammar School, Akeley Wood, Beachborough and Buckingham University.

Outside
With boundless 'kerb appeal' visitors will be immediately drawn to the vast and impressive proportions of this fine period house. Occupying gardens and grounds of some 0.44 of an acre, the views from the rear are particularly noteworthy, especially when considered against the most practical proximity to the towns centre and local amenities. To the front, the colourful and well planted gardens descend to the sheltered patio garden enjoyed from the kitchen and dining room. There is ample adjacent gravelled driveway parking for at least three vehicles and supplemented by garaging. Steps serve a side entrance door and there is gated access to the rear.   Behind the property is a most appealing garden, arranged in a large shallow terraced fashion, dividing the garden into outside 'rooms'. A style popularised by influential gardeners of the period such as Gertrude Jekyll and somewhat earlier, Capability Brown. This style incorporates a wide paved terrace punctuated by a profusion of specimen planting, leading to a gravelled vantage. Open lawned areas host a wonderful dichotomy of trees shrubs and plants, each cultivated quite deliberately whilst preserving an endearing informality that will delight adults and children alike.
