"*STAMP DUTY PAID INCENTIVE AVAILABLE - T's & C's APPLY* A sweeping, tree-lined driveway sets a grand stage for Ladyland House. A particularly picturesque example of Scotland?s architectural ?father? David Hamilton?s work, set in 12 acres of spectacular land, you can?t help but be utterly bewitched by this A-listed Georgian mansion. Crafted by the man behind some of Scotland?s most notable buildings, Lennox Castle and the instantly recognizable Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (The Royal Exchange), this house is a treasure-trove of antiquity; the architect?s signature tartan-checked window panes and bold corner quoins hint to how special this property really is. The perfect marriage of period splendour and modern fixtures; all fall under her spell.

Split over four levels, the manor provides extensive accommodation. Stepping through the grand entrance on the ground floor, the hallway leads to the rest of the house; its ornate cornicing give a glimpse of the traditional features throughout. On this level you?ll discover space and luxury at every turn; to start, a family room, a large sitting room with beautiful feature fireplace leading into a conservatory providing vistas across the grounds. In the classic drawing room, with traditional log-burning fire and space for more than ten formal diners, it?s easy to imagine the fabulous
evenings and good company the magnificent space has played host to. The west wing is accessed from
here, leading to a library, smaller kitchen area and the first of nine large bedrooms. The extensive main
kitchen is undoubtedly the heart of this grand home; a stunning central island and lavish fittings provide
the perfect space for foodies to delight in. A handy WC is also accessible from here.

Climb the stairs and you?ll first discover the quintessential period charm of the traditional three-piece bathroom, before encountering four more expansive bedrooms. Two of the rooms here are ?grand? bedrooms, with en-suite dressing rooms and ?Jack-and-Jill? access to a bathroom. Continuing upwards, the second floor is the perfect space to enjoy with company; a sizeable games room with en-suite shower room and play room, and two further ample bedrooms (one with built-in wardrobes), complete
with free-standing furniture, if required.

Journeying downstairs, the expansive basement retains its original features, having existed as servant quarters throughout the 1800s. Here you?ll find two further bedrooms, a three-piece bathroom, two
kitchens, a tool room, a work shop, a timber store, two store rooms and a wine cellar.

Universally considered as the ?father of Glasgow?s architecture?, David Hamilton was an accomplished
mason before turning his talents to architecture in his thirties. His deep appreciation for masonry is echoed in the bold stonework featured in his buildings.

Fortifying his reputation with the Hutchesons? Hall Hospital, he began designing lavish country houses and palatial retreats for Scotland?s aristocracy, such as the now demolished Hamilton Palace. Sadly, much of his finest work has been destroyed over the years, though The Nelson Monument, The Royal Exchange and The Cleland Testimonial Building, among others, still stand today. An active member of 19th century Glasgow?s ?beau monde?, Hamilton was a member of the city?s Dilettante Society working for the improvement of fine arts. He was held in such regard by his peers, that a public dinner was held in 1840 where he was presented with a gold casket containing ยฃ500. He died in 1843, at the age of 75, and is buried in the New Burial Ground, Glasgow Cathedral.

Outside, generous grounds synonymous with the luxury inside complete this tranquil country estate. Vast manicured lawns and mature woodland frame the house, with a sizeable grazing paddock available for horses. Watching the sunlight glance through the trees, Ladyland House provides more beauty than even a postcard could hold.
